Therapy Services

Trying to figure out what type of therapy you want and need can be overwhelming. Here is a quick overview of the two types of services I offer in my practice.

Therapy Programs

What is a structured therapy program?
Structured therapy follows a guided, evidence-based format. What we do from week to week is fairly laid out from the first session, and there is a clear start and end date to the program. Most programs are 10-16 weeks.
Who is a good fit for this approach?
If you benefit from structure, you'll like this approach. It's also the way most evidence-based therapies are designed, so structured approaches are research-backed. You can opt for a more open-ended approach during or after completion of a structured program.

Open Ended Therapy

What is open ended therapy?
Open ended therapy involves designing a treatment plan that fits your needs, drawing from evidence-based approaches in a flexible manner. There is no predetermined completion date, although we do collaboratively develop treatment plans together and discuss your progress, usually every 6-12 weeks. Treatment is completed when you meet your goals.
Who is a good fit for this approach?
If you like flexibility and to take a more active role in designing your treatment plan, you may be a good fit for a more open-ended, evidence-informed approach.

What To Expect

  • Initial Phone Consultation: After receiving your email, I will set up a brief complementary phone appointment to provide additional information on my services, and answer any questions or concerns you may have. If we determine that I am a good fit for your current needs, we will schedule an intake assessment.
  • Intake Session - Your first appointment will be a 50-60 minute consultation session, for me to gather information about your history and goals for treatment, and for you to ask me any questions you may still have about the therapy process. We will collaboratively put together an initial plan for treatment.
  • Therapy Sessions: Therapy Sessions are 50 minutes in length, with the exception of exposure therapy and virtual reality enhanced services. We will determine the frequency and length of sessions when we develop our treatment plan together. Most people find they benefit most from coming once a week.
  • Referrals: If you are interested in adjunct services, such as psychotropic medication, couples or family therapy, assistance with diet and nutrition, or private yoga instruction, I am happy to provide referrals to psychiatrists, dietitians, yoga instructors, and other professionals.
